Services Available From The Practice
All GP’S are contracted to provide “essential services” which is the basic treatment of ill people.
We also provide the following “additional services”:
- Child Health Surveillance – with the health visiting team.
- Routine immunisation of children –with the health visiting team.
- Maternity services in the antenatal and postnatal period with the midwives from the Vale of Leven Hospital.
- Immunisation for adults in relation to travel. Not all travel immunisations are available on the NHS, please ask the receptionist for further details.
- Cervical Smears.
- Freezing of warts and other small skin lesions.
We also hold contracts with Greater Glasgow & Clyde for the following “enhanced services”:
- Annual flu immunisation programme to protect the elderly and those at risk.
- Regular monitoring by bloods and urine tests for patients on a range of drugs.
- Annual comprehensive reviews for patients with Heart disease.
- Annual comprehensive reviews for patients with Diabetes: this includes appointments with the dietician and podiatrist.
- A methadone substitution programme for patients with drug abuse problems.
Antenatal
Friday 14:00 - 16:00
This is a midwife run clinic. When you become pregnant you will be given a ‘booking appointment’ at which the midwife will ask you a few questions and carry out some general health checks. You will be given advice about your choice of place for delivery. You will be seen regularly throughout your pregnancy either at the Practice, local hospital or both.
Smoking Cessation Classes
Smoking cessation classes are held in Dumbarton Health Centre on a Tuesday evening. Please ask at reception for details and appointments.

Contraceptive Services
The GP's and Practice Nurse are happy to discuss contraception with you. The contraceptive pill (combined or progesterone only), the depo injection and condoms are available from your GP.
Sandyford Clinic
The Sandyford Clinic offers more specialist services, such as the implant (Nexplanon) or fitting of coils.

The local service is located in the Vale of Leven Hospital (Mondays & Wednesdays). However, there are many other centres. Please see their website for further details. www.sandyford.org
Emergency Contraception
Please note that emergency contraception (the morning after pill) can be issued by the pharmacist. please visit your local chemist for further details if your require this and they will advise you.
